The Risi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 driven by Daniel Serra, James Calado, David Rigdon and Pier Calado, won the GTD Pro Class over this last weekend at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in a dominating fashion by a lap over the second place Porsche 911 GT3R and the other major marques in class. Guiseppe Risi’s Houston Texas Team has many wins in many classes since it’s inception into major sports car racing, such as Le Mans, Sebring, Petite Le Mans, but this was actually the first class win for this Ferrari Team at the iconic long distance race from Daytona, Florida. The #62 Ferrari, which we have also followed for the last few years, had to overcome a pit fire around the 6 hour mark of the race, to come back through the pack to take the win.
Although this is not a “Factory Team”, I’m sure the church bells did ring in Maranello, Italy as the tradition goes for these famous red race cars from Ferrari.
